Product Overview:

If you are depressed and want to fight this mental illness naturally, then I encourage you to try this natural product. I find that some people do not understand that there are plenty of natural remedies to help cure depression such as 5-HTP.

Don’t jump to conclusions and think that prescription medication is the only way to go. Yes, they do work but they come with more negatives than natural products. They can be highly addicting, bring unwanted side-effects, and take anywhere from 2-6 weeks to start working once you find the right fit.

I take my 5-HTP everyday. I consume one capsule during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It has elevated my mood and given me the emotional well-being I need. Now I constantly feel energized and motivated to do the things I need and want to do. I experience no side effects when taking my 5-HTP. I can fully attest to their benefits and definitely encourage you to consume your 5-HTP vitamins.

Pure Encapsulations – 5-HTP encourages brain serotonin levels just like prescribed medication does that leads to positive effects on mind power, emotional well-being, appetite fixture, mood-enhancement, and better sleep cycles.

5-HTP is a chemical that the body makes from tryptophan (an important and essential amino acid that you get from consuming food). After tryptophan is reformed into 5-HTP, the chemical is then changed into another chemical called serotonin (the chemical responsible for feelings of well-being and happiness). In all, 5-HTP supplements help increase levels of serotonin in the brain, thereby regulating behavior and mood, and fixating sleep, appetite, anxiety, and pain. Ultimately, your body does the work with the aid of this supplement to increase serotonin levels which then generate happiness.

There are 60 capsules that are 100mg each which will last around 2 months if you decide to take it daily as I would recommend. According to reviews, this supplement not only works great, but comes with no side-effects other than adjusting to the product. Look at my full review of 5-HTP here, as I explain all the physical and mental benefits, side effects, and comparison to prescribed antidepressants.

  1. This article has really hit home as I have been suffering from anxiety and depression for 8 months now.
I am having medication from the doctors but I didn’t realise there were other more natural options out there.
Thankyou for this it has really helped me feel a bit better.
    Cheers
    Matthew

  2. My 23-year old son has been suffering with what appears to be depression for over a year. He’s been acting very lethathargic and avoids most social interactions although he used to be quite social, almost a “life of the party” kind of guy. He isn’t willing to see a doctor about it and is drinking drinking more (wine mostly) than he should. I know that alcohol is a depressant so obviously that’s another issue. Can you suggest a way to bring his trying this out out up that won’t cause friction between us? I’m happy to hear that this is all natural without the serious side effects of prescriptions. Any advice is appreciated.Thank you.

    • Hi there. Thanks for sharing. With my experiences with depression, I can honestly say I felt the same way. I isolated myself from friends and family and became anti-social. I hated it but that is where my mind was at. I couldn’t beat it for a while. I am 23 right now and mental illness is still a part of my life but I have been getting good at fighting it. I’ve never seen a doctor about mine. I know it probably would have been a good idea (not to just get prescribed meds, but to talk to a professional also). That is something I didn’t want to do. I was kind of afraid of opening up. So I turned to natural remedies. I started to exercise more which helped and I started eating properly and healthy with vitamins. I then took natural supplements like the one I have promoted and they helped big. It definitely increased my serotonin allowing me to have improved brain power and mind function. This then in turn made me more social again and less afraid and insecure. So if I were you, I would mention to your son that these are all-natural supplements kind of like vitamins and there is no harm in taking them. If he is not open to discussing his illness, then mention that people who aren’t suffering from depression or other mental illnesses take these supplements also which they quite regularly do. People who want better sleep schedules, need motivation, or want appetite fixture, take these. I would say something along those lines. Again, thanks for sharing and all the best.

  3. Thanks for sharing the information about on depression. It’s very informing, I myself take medication for it and it nice to no that there is a more natural alternative out there to take.

  5. Nice!! I can dig it! Great post about a subject so many suffer from, whether we admit it or not. Myself, I don’t do most prescription meds, I think they’re poison. And, gasp, I believe we can get all we need from diet and supplements. Fantastic info!!

    • Thanks Sean! Yes, prescription meds can have nasty side-effects and make you feel wiry sometimes. Personally, I think natural remedies such as diet, exercising, and supplements are great antidotes.

    • Hey Karl. Of course. 5-Hydroxytryptophan is a naturally occurring amino acid (protein building blocks that carry out many important bodily functions) and chemical precursor in the biosynthesis of serotonin. 5-HTP is a chemical that the body makes from tryptophan (an essential amino acid that you get from consuming food). In short, this product is natural and aids with the contribution to feelings of well-being and happiness by producing and increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain (the chemical which makes you happy). 5-HTP is used mainly as an antidepressant, appetite fixture or suppressant, anti anxiety treatment, and sleep aid. It is an all natural supplement in which your body does the work with the aid of this supplement to produce the chemical you need to become happy (serotonin). Please don’t hesitate to ask any more questions. Thanks for reaching out.

  7. Hi Rob,
Thanks for putting up the Pure Encapsulations – 5-HTP Review!
I glad I come across your site and see what I am looking for. I reach the point of depression after I lost my full time time. Even worse, the whole situation makes me sit up all night.
I would like to know if this product could help? After using several month, am I addicted?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks.

    • Hi Maun. Do you mean if you used this product, would you be addicted after several months? If that is the case, then I would say no. This is an all-natural pure product with limited side-effects. It is healthy and unlike prescribed medication. Some people I know take it regularly for other aspects like appetite fixture, sleep cycle, and productivity. So no, I wouldn’t say it is addicting but if you found yourself taking them for months, it would not be a bad thing.

  8. I have a young adult child who suffers from anxiety and depression who is currently taking prescription meds to help him cope. I worry about this since I totally agree that many prescriptions come with major side effects. I’ve never heard of 5-HTP but you make it sound like something he should try. Just wondering how long after taking 5-HTP people can start feeling the results that you describe. With prescription meds it’s usually a couple of months before it kicks in.

    • Hi, thank you for your comment. I recommend 5-HTP as it is the natural precursor to serotonin, therefore, side effects are very limited and nothing compared to prescribed medication. 5-HTP is effective and I would give it at least 2 weeks to notice an improvement.
